2008 Stock Market Crash – Effects on the Vancouver Market
Recently, I was reviewing a series of emails that I had written in the fall/winter of 2008. If you recall, the USA had gone through a debacle in its financial services. The real estate market was in a downturn and its effects were worldwide. Canada was not immune; although, locally in Vancouver, it was a brief adjustment period. As a result of the 2008 market crash, I put together a series of emails that were sent out and very well received at that time. Coincidentally, I was reviewing these emails and it struck me that our local market is experiencing a similar phenomenon right now.
Foreign Buyers Tax – Effects on the Vancouver Market
Due to the recent government changes this summer, I realized that some agents may have never experienced the kind of market that we are currently experiencing. I felt it was time to dust off those emails and produce them by way of a video and blog post.
I will produce these videos in terms of a series of videos that will go out to you over the coming weeks and months.
But before we go any further, let’s remind ourselves that:
- We continue to have very attractive interest rates available for our consumers.
- The local economy is very strong.
- Vancouver continues to be a place that people throughout the world cherish and call home.
- Real estate continues to be a valid cornerstone in the building of ones financial security.
After years of a very attractive market, a pullback or adjustment is a normal, healthy process. We need to remind ourselves that real estate is a contact sport; one that requires us to be in touch with people. And being in touch with people is never more important than in times like these. There are no quick fixes for lead generation.

- Find the lead
- Work the lead
- Close the sale
- Cultivate the relationship
- Receive future referral business
